Some days, it feels like the world is just too much. You might feel stuck, confused, overwhelmed, worried, or sad. But no matter how bad a day can get, it will pass and you will feel better. But still, here are a few things you might need to hear when stuff is not working out.
There is no rush
You are not late. There is no need to rush. Most things in life don’t come with expiration dates, instead, there will be available when you are ready and willing to try them. You can always start a new path or try out a new hobby, discover something about yourself or change your life. There is not set age by which you had to achieve specific goals. Instead, there are always new things to seek out.
More than that, you don’t have to always chase a specific result. Allow yourself to focus on the process and enjoy it from beginning to end. Even if things don’t work out exactly how you hoped, you can find it worthwhile thanks to how much you spent on the process and how fun and meaningful it all was.
Sustainable happiness comes from within, not from other people
We can’t control other people. We can’t make them stay in our lives or do specific things that make us happy. We can’t guarantee they will never leave us or disappoint us or change. But it doesn’t matter as much as we think.
Our happiness should not be dependent on other people. Instead, it can come from within. It’s possible to stay happy when we make peace with ourselves and accept ourselves as we are. Working on our own well-being can help us be independent from other people’s whims and decisions. When somebody makes you feel unhappy, remember that you have everything you need to be happy.
It’s okay to take some time to rest
You deserve to rest. Even if you are not making progress, you deserve to rest. Even if you made a mistake, you deserve to take some time for yourself and feel well. You might feel that you haven’t earned a break yet, but if it’s time for you to stop, just do it. It will not hurt your work, if it’s short, and might even help you get better results.
But beyond all matters related to work, you should plan for breaks because they help you stay better, emotionally and physically as well. It doesn’t matter if you are not succeeding as much as you want, you still deserve to take a break because you deserve to stay well and be well. If you need a day off, give yourself permission to take it. You don’t have to always be doing something.
Life is only starting, no matter how old you are
People can achieve a lot no matter their age. At 50, 60, 70, 80, and more, you still can do a lot and achieve what you want. You can still start that business, join the dance club, begin working towards your ideal body, even if you feel old, even if you have a kid, even if you have never done it before.
Don’t allow your age to hold you back now. After all, that’s one trait that will not get smaller. However, it doesn’t mean that you should let it stop you. If you want to do it, it’s never too late.
It will be OK
Today might not be OK. Tomorrow might not be OK either. But soon, things will get better. The one guarantee in life is that things never last forever, which means that the bad times will pass and probably sooner than you think.
Things are going to get better. They have to, by sheer law of probability. Nothing can stay at its worst point forever. Remember that whatever you are dealing with right now, it’s just all temporary. It will pass. It will change.
This is especially important to remember when you are dealing with a situation beyond your control. Even if there is nothing you can do to remedy the situation, it will still resolve, in one way or another. You won’t have to deal with it forever. You just have to deal with it for now.
